Morten Viskum is showing the sculpture I am Charlie, 2015.
‘I am Charlie’ was created in response to the tragic Charlie Hebdo incident in 2015, a moment that shocked the world and sparked a global conversation about freedom of expression. The work features Viskum overpainting the magazine’s caricatures and casting himself as Charlie Chaplin. The reference to the early pioneer of political satire and strong caricature, adds multiple layers of meaning to the piece.
