Police raised the alarm over lifeless figure in car — but it was neither dead nor alive
Viskum was transporting one of his annual silicone figure self-portrait to an art fair in Copenhagen. The sculpture was placed in the front seat of Viskum’s car, ready for transport the following morning.
A concerned citizen alerted the police after spotting what appeared to be a lifeless body wrapped in plastic in the front seat of a parked vehicle. Unable to confirm from outside whether the figure was alive, police officers broke the car window to access the vehicle. Inside, they discovered not a victim—but a hyperrealistic sculpture created by Viskum himself.

«Politiet aksjonerte da forbipasserende oppdaget skulpturen Morten Viskum hadde i forsetet. Politiet rykket nemlig ut og knuste bilruta til kunstneren, fordi en bekymret innringer trodde det satt en død person i bilen.» – NRK, 28 Aug 2024
